Susan Baka, President

Susan Baka, President Bay Communications & Marketing Inc.As a communications specialist with over 25 years of experience in both small and large business environments, Susan Baka is a start-up expert and seasoned writer. She has directed the launch of over 35 business publications, services and Web sites in the fields of women in business, real estate, law, human resources, workplace health and safety, forensic accounting, trade, tourism, and public policy. Prior to starting Bay Communications in the early 90s, Susan spent 12 years with one of Canada’s largest publishing and communications companies, Southam, as an editor, publisher and general manager of its business information services division.

Helping clients succeed is not only Susan’s business, it’s her passion. A proven strategic thinker and writer, she is adept at showcasing her clients’ expertise through incisive writing and information vehicles that stand out from traditional marketing approaches. Time and time again, the communications vehicles she crafts for Bay’s clients garner high praise and deliver measurable success.

In addition, Susan is considered one of Canada’s top authorities on entrepreneurship and small business, especially for women. She writes and speaks regularly on these topics, as well as on marketing-related subjects, in Canada and internationally.

Susan is active in business associations, is a founder and Vice President, International of the Organization of Women in International Trade-Toronto (OWIT-Toronto), serves as Vice President, Communications, at the international level, and is on the Steering Committee of the Step Ahead Women’s Mentoring Program. She has contributed to the launch and development of their Web sites and other communications materials.

An advocate for women entrepreneurs and exporters, Susan was appointed a member of the Minister of International Trade’s Small and Medium Enterprise Advisory Board in 2008.

When it comes to business contacts, the women entrepreneur market and communications and marketing experts, few are as well-connected as Susan - with her years of experience, range of clientele, and travels on behalf of her clients and the organizations she serves.

Allyson Warden, Associate

Allyson Ward, Associate Bay Communications Inc.

With years of experience in public relations and production management, Allyson Warden spearheads media relations on behalf of Bay’s clients and manages all production coordination with designers and printers. She is web-savvy, bringing expertise from a five-year production management stint with one of Bay’s strategic partners, DUO Strategy and Design Inc., a studio that specializes in edgy print, new media and web design.    

Her experience also includes advertising and event management, online writing, press conferences, business seminars and writing news releases and media kits.

Allyson’s background includes 14 years with PR and communications consultancy Weber Shandwick, marketing for a national software reselling, training and consulting firm, and production coordination for a major mutual funds company.
